Surface treatments
This is a technique using special wire brushes that remove the softer part of the wood without damaging the heartwood. This provides the effect of a foot-worn floor, and during the finishing stage where colour is applied, the hollowed veining absorbs the colour more than the heartwood resulting in a particularly beautiful chromatic effect. Like all the surfacing techniques used by our company, we offer customised treatment tailored to the personal taste of the client.
This ageing process consists in reproducing the tiny holes, dents and slight scratches found in old wood flooring. This process is performed by hand so that each floor is unique and can be customised exclusively to the client’s personal taste.
This technique consists in smoothing the surface of each plank by hand using old wood planes. It is a very difficult process that requires long experience and great attention to detail. Like all the surfacing processes used by our company, we offer customised treatment according to the personal taste of the client.
The old Tuscan style is the result of combining hand planing with the wood ageing process. The planks are first planed by hand and then tiny holes, dents and slight scratches are created to provide an authentic appearance of aged vintage wood. The final result is unique and provides the true look of old reclaimed wood while maintaining the advantages of a new material. Like all the surfacing processes used by our company, we offer customised treatment according to the personal taste of the client.
This technique consists in planing the surface and bevelling the edges of each plank in an irregular manner to give an aged worn appearance. Natural light on the completed floor highlights the gentle hollows creating the uneven effect and colour of time-worn floorboards. Like all the surfacing processes used by our company, we offer customised treatment according to the personal taste of the client.
Inspired by the old tables in the typical granaries in Tuscany, this technique involves making the signs of saw cuts that, over time, remained visible only in certain parts of the planks
Sanding removes the softer part of the wood leaving the grain in relief and creating an uneven surface between grain and heartwood. The porosity created by this process is able to provide unique colour effects during the finishing stage. Like all the surfacing techniques used by our company, we offer customised treatment tailored to the personal taste of the client.
Hand bevelled: This technique consists in creating, by hand, irregular gaps between the various planks. The rounded edge adds depth and substance to the material treated.
This particular treatment is used for planks that are supplied in different widths: up to 30% of the layout can be made by placing side-by-side two planks of a smaller width.
Particular treatment that recreates the effect of antique flooring. This treatment must be carried out completely by hand and varies depending on the shape and type of wood treated. True to tradition, the treatment varies according to the type of wood. Decorations, planks or corners are treated differently, yet with the same objective to recreate a surface true to the original.
